Since it is a new year, I decided to start a new blog. Somewhere I can journal, put down my rambling thoughts and keep track of our progress here at Ivywood Cottage. We live in a small cottage that is under 1000 sq. ft. We are working towards the goal of living as self sufficiently as possible on our small holding of 1/5 of an acre. The cottage needs a lot of work, but each project we do, we will do with sustainable living in mind.
We are trying to live a simple life. While our dream is to have several acres of land, we will be doing as much as we can with what we currently have. If this is all we ever have, that is fine too. We will make it as productive as we can. Our goal is to grow a portion of our own food and have as much edible landscaping as possible. While this is a challenge living at 6200 ft., we think it is possible. And so, our journey to self sufficiency begins.
